5-8% slip motors are electrically designed with NEMA D torque characteristics providing high starting torque during startup. These motors are commonly used in crane and hoist, and elevator industries, and are available as both intermittent and continuous duty and in non-ventilated, open drip proof and fan cooled enclosures.
